Trucking Industry Best Practice.
5 Tech Tips Every Truck Owner Should Know

1) Know the damage signs of torsional vibration.  Crankshaft cracking or failure, excessive bearing wear, excessive gear wear or failure, broken accessory drives and throwing or slapping of belts.  While a viscous damper will not correct prior engine component wear, it will diminish the damage torsional vibration will do over time.

2) Include an inspection of the crankshaft damper at major service intervals.  Look for signs of material cracks and silicone leakage.  The silicone inside a viscous damper is a very thick gel.

3) When purchasing a pre-owned truck with a recent engine overhaul inspect the maintenance logs and be sure that a Vibratech TVD damper was installed at that time.  A bad damper on a new overhaul will cause reduced engine life.

4) Silicone is the ideal material to dampen torsional vibration, but it too will lose its effectiveness.  Vibratech TVD recommends damper replacement every 500,000 miles or at major engine overhauls and in-frame rebuilds to help achieve maximum engine life.

5) Vibratech TVD offers heavy duty crankshaft dampers for popular diesel engines from Detroit Diesel, Caterpillar, Cummins, Mack, and International/Navistar.
